This short story placed 3rd in the short story contest run by Llewellyn Publishing and Pan Gaia Magazine. It introduces the jaded witch, Donata, from the new Urban Fantasy series Deborah is currently working on.

For the last 15 years, Donata Santori has been a Witness Retrieval Specialist: Witnesses die and she retrieves their spirits for a final testimony--literally a dead-end job. However, this case isn't like her others, and the ghost she's retrieving knows where kidnappers have taken an innocent girl. It's her job to pry the information from a very reluctant ghost and time is running out.
